I chose the Gunther Wilhelm honing steel above others because of the pakawood handle, which it shares with my GW knives. Most others have plastic handles, as did the one I finally wore out after some 40 years of assiduous application to my knives, none of which has been technically "sharpened," for as long as four decades in my knife block. The GW steel is an awesome replacement.
I love the paring knife. It is very sharp and easy to use. I love the look of the knife as well.
I being a novice found it extremely long and decided to store it. I didn’t feel able to handle the length of the blade in a safely manner. I needed a 8 in. Fillet knife at the most for sure.
All other items in my purchase were and are A1. Happy and grateful.
These knives are made well and are sharp. They also have a great look and are easy to handle. You might want to invest in a box of bandaides if you’re not use to a sharp knife.
Decent knives but we feel misled as they are made in China, not Germany or USA as indicated by website. Hence the two stars. Please be more honest.

This knife is great! I can't say enough how awesome this knife fits my hand, as soon as I picked it up I knew this was going to be my new go to knife. It has not disappointed me one bit, I may need to purchase another to have as a spare.

Gunter Wilhelm was recommended to us by our local breakfast chef. He pointed out how the knives are one piece, forged, and reasonably priced. We have not been disappointed as we expand our collection over time. The 9.5 inch bread knife is perfect for crusty sourdough, cranberry walnut, etc.
